Safety > Safety outreach
As a responsible member of the helicopter community, American Eurocopter makes it a priority to support the safety initiatives of leading organizations, institutes, steering groups and governmental agencies. Our involvement includes:
Our involvement in the American Helicopter Society (AHS) Technical Safety Committee represents American Eurocopter’s efforts to improve rotorcraft safety through engineering excellence and innovation.
The CONCERN Network provides information regarding accidents and incidents in the air medical and critical care transport community, with the goal of raising awareness of safety hazards in this operating sector. The accident/incident data is provided by the transport service involved, and is then distributed via e-mail by the CONCERN Network. Individual air medical and critical care transport providers can subscribe to receive bulletins via email. Transport service administrators can submit information on an accident or incident via the “Report an accident/incident” page. Transport crew members can submit anonymous HARP reports via the HARP page.
The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) represents the world’s leading manufacturers of general aviation aircraft, engines, avionics, and components. GAMA has been actively pursuing various programs and initiatives that continue to improve the safety of general aviation, which is why American Eurocopter’s Accident Investigation Department participates and supports GAMA functions such as the General Aviation Air Safety Investigator's (GA-ASI) Advanced Technical Workshop. This annual workshop brings together aviation accident investigators from around the world to improve the investigation practices for aviation accidents in order to better identify accident root causes and mitigate future accidents.
American Eurocopter partners with the Global Helicopter Flight Data Monitoring Steering Group’s initiative for safety through leadership focus on issues concerning the manufacture, provision, support and operation of helicopter flight data monitoring systems, with a just culture environment across the global helicopter community.
In cooperation with regulators, customers, end-users, and other industry organizations, American Eurocopter has supported and participated in the International Helicopter Safety Team’s (IHST) activities since its inception in 2005. The Team’s goal is to reduce the worldwide civil helicopter accident rate by 80 percent by 2016. American Eurocopter’s support to IHST has included participation in the U.S. Joint Helicopter Safety Analysis Team (JHSAT), the Joint Helicopter Safety Implementation Team (JHSIT), as well as communications and public relations support. The IHST and European Helicopter Safety Team (EHEST) are hosting safety workshops during the Helitech International 2013 Helicopter Expo & Conference. For more information on this seminar, visit American Eurocopter’s dedicated page.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Training Center is the training facility for the NTSB, an independent federal agency that investigates all civil aviation accidents in the United States. American Eurocopter supports the NTSB Training Center by participating as adjunct instructor staff for the Rotorcraft Accident Investigation Course.
The Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) is an agency whose parent organization is the Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) within the U.S. Department of Transportation. American Eurocopter supports TSI’s Aviation Division by participating as adjunct instructor staff for the Rotorcraft Accident Investigation Course.
