EC155 Overview
American Eurocopter’s versatile EC155 is designed for a wide range of missions, including corporate, offshore transport, medical evacuation, search and rescue and police operations.
This medium twin-engine helicopter is the most technologically-advanced rotary-wing aircraft in its category, incorporating Eurocopter’s five-blade Spheriflex main rotor and Fenestron® tail rotor. Its state-of-the-art instrument panel is equipped with 4 X 5-inch LCD displays for cutting-edge man/machine interface and increased safety. Reduced pilot workload and ease of maintenance are ensured by the fully-integrated digital cockpit, which includes a four-axis autopilot.
The EC155 is powered by two 2 Turbomeca Arriel 2C2 engines, with safety and maintainability further enhanced by the use of Full Authority Digital Engine Controls (FADEC).
Its high speed is complemented by a low external noise signature – 6.9 dB below ICAO levels – while the helicopter’s smooth ride and low internal vibration makes it well suited for corporate missions, and provides a highly stable environment for injured patients during medical flights.
In the U.S., EC155 customers include JLT Group Incorporated, which has purchased six aircraft for deliveries beginning in 2010 to meet clients’ needs in VIP, offshore and emergency medical evacuation.
