In the news report, anchor Jennifer Abney provides a behind-the-scenes look at the men and women of LifeFlight – who efficiently work together to expedite care and minimize trauma for patients airlifted by the air medical service.
The Allegheny General Hospital’s fleet includes four EC145s, which are featured prominently in the WPXI report. This medium-class, twin-engine helicopter brings multi-mission capabilities to LifeFlight – and is a rotary-wing aircraft of choice for air medical services based on its speed, advanced glass cockpit, extra-large cabin and high visibility.
According to one LifeFlight crew member, summer often is referred to as “trauma season” due to an increased amount of outdoor activities – which makes rapid response and high reliability vitally important.
LifeFlight helicopters operate across western Pennsylvania and southeastern Ohio, as well as in parts of West Virginia and Maryland. To date, LifeFlight has completed more than 60,000 missions in the four-state area.
